Branch History

CORPUS CHRISTI BRANCH OF THE AAUW

Founded in 1927

The purpose of this branch shall be to unite the alumnae of colleges and universities for practical educational work; to concentrate and increase their effectiveness in the community for the solution of social and civic problems; to participate in the development and promotion of the policies and programs of the American Association of University Women; to contribute to its growth and advancements; and to cooperate in its division and regional work.

Celebrating 90 Years!

The AAUW Corpus Christi Branch was formed on December 9, 1927, with 10 charter members.   Honoring that date, on December 9, 2017, the AAUW Corpus Christi Branch celebrated its 90th anniversary.  Over 30 members enjoyed a luncheon held at Hester’s Café in the Art Museum of South Texas, celebrating with cake, a silent auction, and a community outreach raffle.

In addition, Kimberly Churches, AAUW Chief Executive Officer, and Julia Brown, AAUW Board Chair, honored our Branch with a certificate and letter in recognition of our 90th anniversary.   This milestone represents several generations of hard work and activism within our own community to break through the educational and economic barriers for women.
