The AAUW Corpus Christi Branch held a meeting on Zoom at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020. The guest speaker was Deborah Fullerton, Curator of Exhibitions at the Art Museum of South Texas.
Ms. Fullerton talked about several of the exhibits currently showing at the Art Museum of South Texas and provided visuals of the stunning artwork. Current exhibits include the following:

- “Target Texas: Drawn Worlds,” an exhibition of graphite artwork from several Texas artists, including two from Corpus Christi. This exhibit is showing through November 29.
- “Across the Atlantic: American Impressionism through the French Lens,” an exhibit of 75 works of art that include Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, and Victor Vignon. Early American artists include John Singer Sargent, William Merritt Chase, and Childe Hassam, among others. This exhibit is available through January 3, 2021.
- “Urban Sea” from the permanent collection which includes large paintings by Dorothy Hood, a Houston-based modern artist. This exhibit is showing through December 13.
- “Tall Tales and Huge Hearts” is an exhibition of original artwork of artist Raul Colon. This exhibit is on display through November 19.
Members are encouraged to visit the Museum to see the latest exhibits. The Museum has wide open spaces which lend to appropriate social distancing, and traffic is very light right now. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wear a mask and be inspired by the superb artwork available at our local Art Museum of South Texas.
